In regards to Jay Z being his favorite mogul, Charlamagne shared his belief that Hov is one of few who "hasn't sold his soul."
"Jay Z's my favorite Hip Hop mogul because Jay is the one guy who seems like he hasn't sold his soul, so to speak," Charlamagne said. "He's the one guy who seems like he's still got his Timbs on the ground. He never comes off as a superstar, industry artist. He just comes off as a guy who came from the projects of Marcy and made it. And I guess because his story is so well-documented...so we watched the evolution from Reasonable Doubt to where he is now."
Charlamagne applauded the rapper-turned-businessman for recruiting his family and close friends to work at Roc Nation.
"It's real family oriented," he said. "His sister works up there. His nephews are already up there. And I mean for any black man coming from where we come from, that's the ultimate end goal. The ultimate end goal is to set up a situation to set up a structure where your family can eat. Where your family and close friends can eat. And he's done that."
