Bobby Shmurda’s December arrest has brought nothing but bad fortune for the Brooklyn rapper since. Along with a whopping $2 million bail, the GS9 rapper has been hit with a laundry list of charges, from conspiracy to commit murder, to weapon and drugs charges. Now, a new report points to a brawl while in custody at Otis Bantum Correctional Center in New York.According to TMZ, Bobby and five other inmates were involved in a gang related incident last month (Apr. 15). An alleged square off between Bloods and Crips, the fight was broken up by guards’ usage of pepper spray, according to the website. This runs contrary to reports that the rapper had been transferred to protective custody at the Manhattan Detention Complex back in February, though it is possible that he returned to Otis Bantum thereafter.“It’s unclear how long he will stay at the Manhattan Detention Complex, also known as The Tombs, which is primarily used to house inmates short term following arrests or for court appearances,” DNAInfo reported earlier this year.In a recent profile for New York Magazine, Bobby maintained his innocence, citing that the NYPD has targeted him for his fame.“I’m innocent,” he said. “I’ll explain it to all of them. I’m just a young black kid coming from a nasty neighborhood. I made it out, and a lot of people don’t want to see that.”
No updates have been given about the alleged brawl as yet.
